After studying business administration in Munich and working for two years at an international auditing firm, Christian Sommer (born 1965) began his career in film production and film services at Bavaria Film GmbH.
Between 1994 and 1997 he was head of controlling at Bavaria Film GmbH and its subsidiaries and associated companies. From 1997 to June 2000 he was managing director of Bavaria Production Services GmbH, Geiselgasteig. In this capacity he was responsible for restructuring the service departments of Bavaria Film GmbH and spinning them off into the newly founded company and established Bavaria Production Services as an independent specialist for production technology services in the areas of film, television and advertising.
From 2000 to 2013 he was a member of the board of CineMedia Film AG, and sole CEO since December 2003. Since 2014, Christian Sommer has been CEO of Trixter Film GmbH, a leading VFX provider based in Munich with subsidiaries in Berlin and Los Angeles.
